How to Add Your iTunes Library to Google Play Music


Step #1. The first thing that you might want to do before going ahead with the process is check out your library. One obvious benefit of it is that it will help you in dragging and dropping your music files a bit conveniently.

On Your Mac: Launch Finder on your Mac ⟶ Macintosh HD ⟶ Users ⟶ The folder with your name ⟶ Music ⟶ iTunes.

Step #2. Next, you have two options:

  • Use Chrome to upload your songs to Google Play Music’s web interface
  • Take the help of official Music Manager application to move your songs to Google cloud

You can use any of the two options to export your iTunes library to the Google Music. We are going to try out both the options:

Open Chrome on your computer and head over to the Google Play Music website. Then you need to sign into your Google account. Next, click on the menu button at the top-left corner of the screen.

Step #3. Next up, click on Upload music.

And then simply drag and drop all of your songs from the iTunes library to this window.

Alternately, you can also click on “Select from your computer” button ⟶ navigate to the music files and upload them.

Up next, click on Continue and then you need to add Google Plus Music extension to the browser.

Now, you need to wait until all of your music has been successfully uploaded. The time it will take to complete the uploading depends on the file size as well as the Wi-Fi speed.

Note: When you click on Upload music, you will be asked to add your card as a form of payment. Don’t worry, you won’t be charged for standard service. It’s done to confirm your country of residence. Follow the instruction to add it.

Uploading your iTunes library to Google Music via Music Manager is just as straightforward. You can download it both on your Mac and Windows PC.

Then, simply open the app ⟶ click on Continuesign into your Google Account ⟶ select what you want to upload and hit the Continue button.

Up next, you have three options:

  • Upload all songs and playlists
  • Select songs to upload by Playlist
  • Include podcasts in Upload

You can select the options based on your need. I’m going to upload all the songs and playlists. Once you have selected the option, click on Continue again.

Next, you will be asked whether you want to automatically upload songs that you add to iTunes. Select Yes or No. Click on Continue again to start the exporting process.

Check Out your Uploaded Songs:

Once you have successfully moved your entire music library to Google Play Music, you can check out whether it’s perfectly onboard or not. To get it done, simply open the web app ⟶ head to Music LibrarySongs.


It’s just as simple on the mobile app. Just launch the Google Play Music app on your smartphone ⟶ Library tab at the bottom ⟶ check out your songs.

Now that you have moved your music to Google’s music app, go ahead and stream it. Currently, the app offers a 9.99/monthly plan and $14.99/ monthly family plan ( up to 6 people).

If you have Google Play Music subscription and want to download music from Google Play Music as MP3 (320kbps), you have come to the right place. There are some paid tools that claims to download Google Play Music tracks to MP3, but deep down they are recording the music. In this artcile, you will learn how to save music fromGoogle Play Music as MP3 so you can listen to music on any music player devices.

Chimera is a multiple source terminal-based music downloader with audio search engine (requires extra setup). It enables you to download music from Napster, Deezer, Tidal, SoundCloud, Qobuz, Google Play Music, and Spotify (from other sources).

About Chimera

How to Set It up

The process is a little bit different according to the system you are using. I will just take Windows as an example to show you step by step. You can also refer to the video below, which is more clear.

Step 1. Download python from here and install it. Preferably, download the 64-bit version. When you install it, be sure to check the option “Add Python 3.8 to Path”. If you miss that, you need to add the path manually.

Step 2. Download the latest release of Chimera and extract it.

Step 3. Copy the Chimera folder to C: drive if it is not there.

Step 4. Press Windows + R and type “CMD” to open a command prompt window. Then type ”cd [the path to Chimera folder]”.

Step 5. Type the following command and press Enter to install the required the requirements.:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Step 6. Type “pip install gmusicapi” to install gmusicapi library, which is needed only for downloading music from Google Play Music

Step 7. Type “main.py” to launch Chimera and it will open the Chimera Config page from your web browser where you can input all your accounts of music services that you want to download music from. When you go to the Google Play Music section, toggle on the option “GPM Enabled” and input your email address and password for Google Play Music.

Step 8. Change other settings if you want and save the changes.

After that, you can use it to download Google Play Music to MP3.

How to Use It?

After setup, you need to re-launch Chimera before you can download music. It is quite convenient to download tracks, albums, or playlists from any service that is supported. You can refer to the steps below to download music with Chimera.

Step 1. Open a command prompt. You can press Windows + R key and type “CMD ” (without quotes).

Step 2. Type “cd [the path you saved the chimera folder]” and press Enter.

Step 3. Run the command “python main.py”

Step 4. Type “gpm” and then type “login”.

Step 5. You will be redirect to Google authorization page. From there, click Allow to grant Google Play Music access to Chimera.

Step 6. After that, you will get the approval Code. Copy the code and go back to Chimera. Paste the code in the command prompt and press Enter.

Step 7. Wait a few seconds and you now have logged in to Google Play Music. You can now type “grab track [track ID]” to download a track from Google Play Music. If you want to download an album or playlist, just use “grab album [ID]” or “grab playlist [ID]”.

If you want to download from Spotify, just type Spotify. When using Spotify for the first time, it will generate Spotify access token, so you need to type the command again to download Spotify music.
